2018 GVCC/Legaci Skills Clinic

  • Two-day Road Cycling Clinic in Rochester, NY on March 24-25, 2018. The target participants are beginner and recreational cyclists.  Participants can choose 1 or both days
  • Attendance at both days is worth up to 3 race days for cat 5-4 or 3 pts for cat 4-3.

Instructor:  Todd Scheske, USA Cycling Level 1 Elite Coach, Peaks Coaching Group Elite/Master Coach

Content Information: The clinic will include (among other topics): basic group riding

skills, group ride etiquette, pace lines (beginning and advanced), gear selection, bike fit/position, race strategy, cornering, attacking/counter attacking, bridging, sprinting, time trial starts/efforts, bike maintenance, etc.  Skills instruction will follow the format as posted on NYSBRA.

Schedule:

Day 1

8:00-8:40 am:  30-45 minutes classroom covering basic bike function, maintenance and fit, theory behind the skills that will be conducted that day and basic race theory regarding attacking, drafting etc.

8:50 – 9:30 am:         basic skills as presented in BASIC-COMPETITION-SKILLS-PROGRAM.pdf.

10:00 am: Giro Training event.  First 25 minutes will be paceline and working group etiquette then mentored racing for 30 minutes (or about 15 miles minimum total)

11:30-12:00 pm:  wrap up summary and Q&A

Day 2:

8:00-8:40 am:  30-45 minutes classroom covering basic theory behind the skills that will be conducted that day and more advanced race strategy and tactics including some discussion of previous day’s racing.

8:50 – 9:30 am:         skills as presented in BASIC-COMPETITION-SKILLS-PROGRAM.pdf.

10:00 am: Giro Training event.  First 25 minutes will be paceline and working group etiquette then mentored racing for 25-30 minutes. (or about 15 miles minimum total)

11:15-12:00 pm:  wrap up summary and Q&A
