2012 Bristol Road Race- Thank you!

On behalf of Team Nalgene I would like to thank the local bike racing community and our friends in Western NY and Canada for making the Bristol race another successful and safe event. Despite a few bumps and scrapes (and one broken collarbone), the races were safe, fair, and hard fought!! Results can be found at yellowjacketracing.com and eventually over at USAC. Thanks too to our all important sponsors, GVCC, Nalgene, Park Ave Bike, and NYSBRA. See you again in 2013!

GVCC G2 2012

GVCC G2 is going for 2012! Thank you to all the contributed so far! We have new Jerseys and shorts on order to arrive at the end of May for all the guys signing up. I also want to let everyone know that the Jonathan Dechau Legacy Foundation, Inc. will be the underlying organization for junior initiatives going forward – including the JUNE 16 Jonathan Dechau Memorial Time Trial that will include the Fred Hoyle Masters 45+ TT. Jonathan Dechau Legacy Foundation is a non-profit charity, so any donations are tax deductable and all donations go directly to advancing the juniors in our region. I’m proud to be able to carry on Jon’s memory through this program in his name and have the ability to influence young cyclists in a positive way.

Rides for Juniors on Wednesday nights will also be starting next week May 9, at 6:00 pm from Tow Path Bikes in Pittsford. These will be 1 hour endurance rides focusing on group skills. Right now I’m planning on every other week and I’ll send out reminders via email and twitter. If you aren’t using twitter, or are not on the email list, please message me (info@gvccracing.com ). Please check twitter and the webpage for up to date information regarding the rides as we will not ride in bad weather.

We have a lot going on this year with the USAC Development Camp coming up for more experienced riders, new riders from Victor High School and regional races as well as weekly G-tour. I would also like to encourage our juniors to plan on attending the FCCC race in PA in July and Fitchburg Stage Race (week before the camp). These races will have good fields to test your abilities against!

Bloomfield 2012 – Thank You!

Despite the lack of sun (at least it wasn’t snowing), the 2012 Spring Classic at Bloomfield was held and was a great success. We had 180 registered racers and they day ran without a hitch. As you know, this race and the club is run 100% by a volunteer effort and there are many people to thank:

Shana Lydon for all her dedicated work to organize all the details, set up and manage the BikeReg, and providing excellent help all around
Mike Deats for permitting the event with the Towns and Village; communicating clearly with the Sheriff’s and State Troopers; marking the course, and providing excellent help all around
Mark Paris for all the work permitting the event with USAC and organizing the officials and Chief Referee
Brent Blazey and the Dorschel crew for working the registration tables and chip hand out
Jen Rea for her continued support with registration
Brian Gee, Bob Wells and the CNB-Country Malt guys for organizing the marshals
Scott Hollenbeck, Aaron Dinoto, Fernando Galiana, Brent, Mike Traxler and Chris/Mac5Bikes for driving lead and follow vehicles throughout the day
Alicia Walker for the bacon filled cup cakes
The entire town of Bloomfield, the Sheriff’s Department and State Troopers. They all supported the event with positive attitudes and were all a pleasure to work with.
All of our volunteers on the corners: It was a long day for them, but they all did a fantastic job making our course safe for all of our racers. Great work that is very appreciated.
Lastly, to all of the racers to showed up and clipped in at the start line. Thank you! Races are nothing without decent competition, so thank you for coming out and supporting our race and club.
